Digital Twin of an Automated Palletizing System
In this project, the control software of a Siemens S7-1500 PLC was validated using the PLCSIM Advanced tool connected to the Digital Twin developed by Doppel Systems.
The use of this service enabled our client to verify and optimize the complete operation of the automatic control sequence, including material flow between stations, waiting times, proper performance under input congestion conditions, manipulator positions, and many other key requirements.
Additionally, system responses to safety-related faults were validated, such as emergency stops, sensor failures, and unauthorized door openings.
The ability to carry out these tests prior to building the installation reduced project delivery time by minimizing risks and uncertainties during real commissioning, while also enhancing the supplier’s image in the eyes of the end client.

This Digital Twin can be connected to any industrial control platform and accurately simulates the physical dynamics expected in a real laboratory environment. Additionally, the client was able to deliver vocational training remotely, as this Digital Twin can be shared as a portable executable and does not require a license.
